RRPS Aims for Zero Waste
Every day is a recycling day at RRPS! Please consider joining RRPS in its efforts to aim for zero waste in its school cafeterias, classrooms, offices and athletic events.  Zero waste is a philosophy that encourages the redesign of resource life cycles so that all products are reused. No trash is sent to landfills and incinerators. See how one southwestern campus is using “aversion” and “diversion” to reach its goals.  Click here to read about UNM's efforts.
RRPS Seeks Parent Input on Textbook Adoption
Every six years, the state of New Mexico and local school districts review textbooks and other instructional materials in order to adopt updated materials for use in classrooms.  This year we will be adopting instructional materials for grades 9-12 English Language Arts, World Languages, and high school reading intervention to support our implementation of the Common Core State Standards. Interested in helping on an Adoption Committee? We'll have monthly meetings November through March. Click here for details.

All sports teams will be collecting new toys for needy children in honor and memory of former Rio Rancho baseball player and Rio Rancho police officer Anthony Hasse. Donations can be made to any RRHS athlete or athletic team. Five collection boxes are located throughout the athletic facility (main gym, multi-purpose building, baseball field house, softball field house and football field house). The BIG EVENT is Coming!
On Saturday, November 22, RRHS Associated Students will hold the 7th Annual BIG Event community service project. For those of you not familiar with how it works, we recruit student volunteers to spend part of a Saturday doing odd jobs at the homes of Rio Rancho residents as a way of saying “thank you” to the community for supporting our schools. Last year, we had about 400 students go out and work on over 70 homes. In order to do this, WE NEED ADULT VOLUNTEERS! If you are interested in helping, check out these applications:   Adult Volunteer Application  |  Job Site Application

Parents of Special Education Students: Transition Competency Questionnaire

Mealtime online service
Rio Rancho parents now have an easier way to pay for their children's meals at school...online! We have chosen to use an online service called MealTime Online (www.mymealtime.com) to provide parents the opportunity to make credit card deposits into their children's cafeteria account. Parents can also view the student's purchase history with this service.
