The following email was sent on February 19, 2016 to Parents/Guardians of Rio Rancho High School Students regarding important changes regarding Dual Credit opportunities for students enrolled at Rio Rancho High School:
Please note that each student is allowed no more than two Dual Credit Courses during their four years of high school to count on their transcript, regardless of whether the course was offered on or off school campus. The only exception to this would be students that will be participating in the RRPS-UNM West “Early College Cohort”, which requires students to submit an application to participate with parent approval.
It is imperative that students understand that if they do not obtain prior approval to take a course by their counselor and administrator using the district Dual Credit Course Authorization Form, they will not receive credit and their book(s) will not be paid for by RRPS. Of course, students may decide on their own to take more than two courses at CNM or UNM, but they will not be given high school credit for the extra classes and students will assume responsibility for the cost of books and tuition. It is also very important to note that RRPS will not cover the cost of classes or books for the 2016 summer session. Students must be aware of this fact before enrolling in summer courses.
If you or your child should have any questions regarding this, please feel free to contact your child's academic counselor.
