Lois Moreno

The Rio Rancho High School Dance Department was established in 1997 by Dance Director, Lois Moreno. It is one of the few full time public school dance programs of its kind in New Mexico. The RRHS Dance Department offers 5 levels of instruction, starting with level 1 beginning and ending with Master Dance Company, a performance based company that performs 3 times a year in the RRHS Performing Arts Center. 

The RRHS Dance Department offers techniques in ballet, jazz, lyrical/Contemporary, modern, hip-hop, choreography and performance.

RRHS Dance Force Company was created by Ms. Moreno as a training company for emerging dancers to prepare for audition into Master Dance Company.  Dance Force Company performs once per semester for the general public.

RRHS Master Dance Company was created by Ms. Moreno for students with intent to make dance their career.  Members must audition to join the company and perform 6 times per year in the RRHS Performing Arts Center.

Rio Rancho High School Dance Director, Lois Moreno Biography

Lois Moreno believes that the arts have the power to transform and uplift lives. It is for this reason, that she has dedicated more than 25 years of her life to dance education, for both children and adults. Originally from Chicago, Moreno moved to Santa Fe in 1992 and founded the dance division of CAPA (Capital Academy of Performing Arts) at Capital High School. During her time in Santa Fe, Moreno served as a Santa Fe Arts Commissioner and was invited to write dance curriculum for the state of NM.
